theory of relativity theme

Albert Einstein's theories regarding the nature of space, time, and gravity are featured to some extent.

movie: MoscowCassiopeia (1974) major The story is a showcase of the time dilation aspect of special relativity. In the story, a crew of teenagers were sent on what would be a 50 year voyage to Alpha Cassiopeia as experienced in their frame of reference. Meanwhile, hundreds of years were to pass in Earth's frame of reference, meaning that everyone they'd ever known would be long dead by the time they returned from their voyage. And toward the end of the film the teens communicated with people on Earth who had aged 40 years, while they had hardly aged a day.
movie: Voices of a Distant Star (2002) major The 16-year-old Mikako didn't age on her eight light-year voyage to the Sirius star system, and, as a result, her old schoolmate on Earth was a 25 year old by the time she reached her destination.
shortstory: The Prince of Liars (1930) major The story is framed as a dialog between a relativist and a skeptical Newtonian. To convince the Newtonian, he relativist Dr. Smead told a tale, and it is left for the reader to judge the veracity of the story, of having experienced time dilation on a journey to the Sirius star system.
movie: Clockstoppers (2002) minor Dr. Gibbs told his students that not being able to be seen when traveling sufficiently fast relative to other people is a basic example of Einstein's theory of relativity.
movie: Godzilla: Planet of the Monsters (2017) minor Almost 20,000 years had elapsed by the time the Aratum spaceship returned to Earth due to relativistic effects.
movie: Save the Green Planet (2003) minor According to Kang, relativity theory explained how it could be that time passed more slowly on his homeworld as compared to Earth. The idea being that the more massive a planet is, the more slowly time passes on it.
movie: Teens in the Universe (1975) minor The teens aged less than one year on their voyage to Alpha Cassiopeia while 27 years had passed on the Earth.
movie: The Yesterday Machine (1963) minor Ernest Von Hauser lectured Jim Crandall on the finer points of the theory of special relativity.
movie: Timequest (2000) minor An school teacher explained how Einstein's theory of time dilation was proved by placing atomic clocks in orbit around the Earth.
movie: Unidentified Flying Oddball (1979) minor Tom and Hermes traveling back in time by exceeding the speed of light in the Stardust spacecraft was taken as a validation of Einstein's theory of special relativity.
