A character suffers from a disease described as the plague, be it bubonic, septicemic, pneumonic, or some minor fictional variation on the genuine article.
Examples
In ahp1x05 "Into Thin Air", the kind of air most conducive to vanishings, it is revealed at the end that Diana's mysteriously vanished mother had in fact succumbed to the bubonic plague, and being secretly taken away by the authorities for bureaucratic reasons.
