The Salem witch trials were a series of hearings and prosecutions of people accused of witchcraft in colonial Massachusetts between February 1692 and May 1693. This theme is used whenever this event is featured in the story.

For the intents and purposes of thematic annotation we shall assume that any witch trials referenced as taking place in colonial Massachusetts, in fact the Salem Witch trials, unless otherwise is said explicitly.
